Molbio Diagnostics IPO Opens: Price Band ₹768-₹807, Key Details to Watch

Molbio Diagnostics’ initial public offering (IPO) launched for subscription on August 10, 2026, targeting a total raise of approximately ₹940 crore. The offer, which includes a fresh issue and offer for sale, runs until August 12. Investors are analyzing the company's proprietary point-of-care molecular testing technology, while weighing risks related to product concentration in tuberculosis testing and heavy reliance on government health procurement.

Molbio Diagnostics, a player in the point-of-care (POC) molecular diagnostics space, has opened its initial public offering (IPO) today, August 10, 2026. The issue is priced between ₹768 and ₹807 per equity share and is scheduled to close on August 12, 2026. The company intends to raise roughly ₹939.70 crore, which comprises a fresh issue of ₹200 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of over 91 lakh shares. The company has already raised ₹281 crore from anchor investors, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and HDFC Mutual Fund.

The company has gained attention for its Truenat platform, a battery-operated system that brings molecular testing, often reserved for large labs, to smaller clinics or field settings. The firm operates on a "razor-and-blade" business model. In this setup, the company sells the diagnostic hardware—the Trueprep and Truelab instruments—and then generates recurring revenue by selling the disease-specific test kits required to run each test. This recurring stream accounted for approximately 74% of the company's operating revenue in FY26, suggesting a consistent reliance on the sale of consumables.

Financially, the company has shown growth. It reported a revenue of ₹1,455.17 crore for the financial year ending 2026, compared to ₹1,027.94 crore in FY25. Net profit also rose to ₹164.14 crore from ₹138.58 crore in the previous year. A key strength for the company is the World Health Organization (WHO) endorsement of the Truenat platform for tuberculosis (TB) and rifampicin-resistance detection. This is the only Indian-developed platform to hold such recognition, and the company supports this with a large intellectual property portfolio.

Despite these strengths, there are distinct risks that potential investors should consider. A significant portion of the company's revenue remains tied to TB-related diagnostics. Any shift in government health policies, a decline in global TB-related testing volumes, or a failure to successfully scale its other non-TB tests could impact financial stability. Furthermore, the company relies heavily on government procurement for its sales. This dependency creates exposure to policy changes, potential payment delays, and budget fluctuations within the public health sector.

The IPO is valued at a post-issue price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple of approximately 56.67x based on FY26 earnings. This valuation reflects the company's growth outlook, though investors should compare this against the broader diagnostic sector to understand the premium being paid. The stock is tentatively scheduled to list on the BSE and NSE on August 17, 2026. Before making a decision, market participants typically track the subscription levels across retail and institutional categories to gauge overall sentiment.
