Manipal Health IPO Opens July 29: ₹9,275 Crore Issue Details

Manipal Health Enterprises opens its ₹9,275 crore initial public offering on July 29, priced at ₹560-590 per share. The healthcare major plans to use the proceeds primarily for debt repayment and strategic acquisitions. Investors should note that while the IPO aims to strengthen the balance sheet, profit declined in the latest fiscal year despite higher revenue.

Detailed Coverage

Manipal Health Enterprises, one of India’s prominent hospital chains, is launching its initial public offering (IPO) on July 29, 2026. The company plans to raise ₹9,275 crore through a combination of a fresh share issue and an offer-for-sale by existing shareholders. The subscription period for the issue will remain open until July 31, with final share allocation expected by August 3. The stock is tentatively scheduled to list on the NSE and BSE on August 5.

The IPO price band is set at ₹560 to ₹590 per share. Retail investors interested in participating will need to apply for a minimum lot of 25 shares, which requires an investment of ₹14,750 at the upper price band. The company, which operates a network of 49 multi-specialty hospitals with over 13,000 licensed beds, intends to utilize the capital raised from the fresh issue to reduce its existing debt and fund the acquisition of a minority stake in Sahyadri Hospitals.

Financial performance remains a key area for investors to examine. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, the company reported a revenue of ₹10,520.52 crore, marking a 26% increase compared to the previous year. Operating profit, measured as EBITDA, stood at ₹2,795.94 crore. Despite this growth in top-line figures, the company’s profit after tax decreased to ₹916.52 crore, down from ₹1,081.67 crore in the prior fiscal year. This decline in bottom-line profitability amid revenue expansion is a factor that investors may want to monitor alongside the company's efforts to lower its debt burden.

Like other major players in the Indian hospital sector, Manipal Health operates in a capital-intensive environment where constant investment in infrastructure and medical technology is necessary to maintain market share. While the expansion into new territories and the acquisition of existing hospital assets are part of the growth strategy, these moves bring inherent execution risks and the ongoing need to manage high fixed costs.

Potential investors should also be aware that grey market indicators, which suggest a minor premium over the issue price, are speculative in nature and do not reflect the actual long-term value or the final listing performance of the stock. As the company moves toward public listing, the ability to improve profit margins while managing the debt repayment schedule will be critical. The final results of the IPO, including the level of subscription across different investor categories, will be the next major update for shareholders to track.
