KIMS Inks 5-Year Pact To Manage Arete Hospital In Hyderabad

Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) has secured a five-year agreement to manage the 250-bed Arete Hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The company will receive 9% of net revenue for its services and holds a call option for a potential future acquisition.

Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) has entered into a five-year Operations and Management (O&M) agreement with Aurevia Hospitals Private Ltd. Under this arrangement, KIMS will take full charge of operating the 250-bed Arete Hospital located in the Gachibowli IT hub of Hyderabad. KIMS is set to receive a management fee equal to 9% of the hospital's net revenue, which is defined as total income minus patient discounts and concessions.

Strategic Expansion in Hyderabad

The agreement allows KIMS to expand its presence in the Telangana region through an asset-light model. By managing the facility rather than purchasing it outright, the company can establish a footprint in a key healthcare market with lower immediate capital spending. The deal also includes a call option, providing KIMS the flexibility to acquire the hospital business at a later date, subject to reaching an agreement on terms and valuation with the owners. Aurevia Hospitals had only recently acquired the facility through a business transfer earlier in July 2026.

Financial Context and Debt Management

This management contract arrives as KIMS works to balance its expansion efforts with its current financial position. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, the company reported revenue of ₹1,180 crore, reflecting a 35.3% growth compared to the previous year. However, its consolidated profit after tax stood at ₹37.40 crore, as the company faced profit margin pressure due to elevated interest and depreciation costs linked to its recent growth projects.

To strengthen its balance sheet and lower leverage, KIMS recently completed a preferential warrant allotment to its promoters, raising ₹150 crore. This is part of a larger ₹600 crore fundraising initiative aimed at managing its consolidated net debt, which currently stands at approximately ₹2,400 crore.

Operational Risks and Monitorables

The success of this new engagement will depend on KIMS' ability to integrate its systems and operational standards into the new facility. Investors may track the speed at which KIMS can improve operational efficiency and revenue generation at the Arete facility, as similar capacity expansions have previously contributed to higher depreciation and finance costs. Moving forward, the key items for shareholders to monitor will be the progress in managing the Gachibowli facility, the impact of these operational costs on overall profit margins, and updates regarding the company’s broader plan to reduce debt levels.
