Indian healthtech startup Healthify has merged with US-based Berry Street to launch an AI-driven, insurance-covered metabolic health platform. The all-stock deal combines Healthify’s 'Ria' AI technology with Berry Street’s 2,000+ clinicians to target the growing US weight management market.
Healthify, the Indian artificial intelligence-based health and nutrition startup, has announced a merger with the US-based nutrition care firm Berry Street. This all-stock transaction aims to create a unified platform that integrates AI-powered guidance with clinical support, specifically targeting metabolic health and long-term nutrition care.
The combined entity will leverage Healthify’s proprietary AI engine, known as Ria. This technology provides personalized health guidance based on data points like sleep, stress, and nutrition. By pairing this AI capability with Berry Street’s network of over 2,000 licensed clinicians—including doctors, registered dietitians, and nurse practitioners—the new venture intends to offer a service model that is both tech-enabled and clinically supervised.
Strategic Branding and Leadership
The merged company will adopt a dual-branding strategy to manage its global operations. In the United States, services will be offered under the Berry Street brand, while the Healthify name will be retained for operations in India and other existing international markets. The leadership team will consist of co-CEOs Tushar Vashisht and Noah Kotlove, who will guide the integration of the two organizations.
A key differentiator for this new platform is its focus on insurance coverage. While many consumer health applications operate as self-pay services, the integration with Berry Street’s clinical infrastructure allows the platform to work within the US insurance system. This is intended to make metabolic health and weight management services more accessible and affordable for patients, potentially increasing user adoption compared to out-of-pocket health apps.
Targeting the Metabolic Health Market
The merger is timed to capitalize on the increasing demand for weight-management solutions, particularly those that support patients using GLP-1 medications. Healthify has previously noted that its programs supporting GLP-1 users have seen rapid growth, and the new partnership is designed to scale this capability. By combining clinical oversight with AI, the platform aims to provide a more holistic approach to weight management, which is a major focus area for healthcare providers and insurers in the US.
Since Healthify is a private company, its shares are not traded on the NSE or BSE, and financial details of the merger have not been disclosed. For the business to succeed, the primary monitorable will be the company’s ability to integrate its AI technology with US clinical workflows and its success in securing insurance reimbursements. As with any startup operating in the healthcare space, the company faces risks related to evolving regulations in the obesity care sector and the need to maintain long-term user retention in a competitive digital health market.
