HCG Q2 Revenue Rises 16% to Rs 732 Cr, Profit Drops

HealthCare Global Enterprises reported a 16% jump in Q2 FY2027 revenue to Rs 731.8 crore, driven by higher patient volumes. However, net profit declined by 55.2% to Rs 9.25 crore due to a one-time provision for a regulatory duty shortfall. Investors may watch how the company balances its ongoing hospital expansion plans with operational cost management.

HealthCare Global Enterprises (HCG) delivered strong revenue growth in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2027. The hospital chain reported a consolidated revenue of Rs 731.8 crore, a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth was fueled by a 9% rise in patient volumes and a 7% increase in the average revenue per patient, reflecting steady demand for the company’s complex oncology treatments and robotic surgery services.

Impact of One-Time Regulatory Provision

While the top-line performance was positive, the company’s net profit saw a significant decline. Net profit fell by 55.2% to Rs 9.25 crore for the quarter. This bottom-line impact was largely due to a one-time exceptional charge of Rs 11.59 crore. This expense was related to a customs duty shortfall under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme, a government program that allows companies to import capital goods at reduced duty rates in exchange for export obligations. Without this one-off provision, the operational profitability would have appeared higher, as the company’s adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 19.7% from 19.2% in the previous year.

Strategic Growth and Expansion

The company is continuing its strategy of shifting its patient mix toward non-institutional channels, which now account for 69% of its total revenue, a year-on-year increase of 325 basis points. This shift is designed to improve the quality of earnings by prioritizing high-value treatment segments. Additionally, the international business segment saw strong traction, with revenue climbing approximately 54% to Rs 30.2 crore, boosted by increased patient intake across its African facilities.

In terms of physical capacity, the firm added 146 beds in the first half of the fiscal year, with new deployments in regions including Kenya, Kolkata, and Nagpur. The company is also integrating advanced medical technologies, such as MR-LINAC radiation therapy and cardiac robotic surgery systems, to differentiate its service offerings in a competitive healthcare market.

Future Monitorables for Investors

The company continues to pursue an aggressive growth path, with capital spending guided between Rs 300 crore and Rs 350 crore annually for FY2027 and FY2028. As the company moves ahead with these expansion plans, the primary focus for investors will be execution. Successfully ramping up operations in new and brownfield hospitals is critical to maintaining revenue momentum. Additionally, shareholders may watch how the management balances these expansion costs with the need to maintain operational margins and manage rising expenses related to medical consultancy and employee benefits.
