HealthCare Global Enterprises (HCG), a leading oncology hospital chain, has inaugurated a new 132-bed facility in Bengaluru's Hebbal district. The expansion represents an investment of approximately Rs 129 crore.
Advanced Technology
This new center significantly boosts HCG's capacity in Bengaluru, bringing its total hospital count in the city to three. The facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, including an MRI scanner integrated with a linear accelerator for precise, adaptive cancer therapy. HCG founder B S Ajaikumar noted the growing importance of data and technology in cancer care to effectively manage even advanced cases.
Strategic Growth
The launch follows private equity firm KKR's acquisition of a 54% stake in HCG for Rs 3,466 crore last year. HCG currently manages about 2,500 beds across 25 centers nationwide, with founder Ajaikumar and his family retaining a 10% holding.
Acquisition Discussions
Reports also suggest HCG is in talks to acquire American Oncology, currently owned by Siemens Healthineers, as the German company plans to divest. The new Hebbal facility includes five robotic-assisted operation theaters, 19 chemotherapy daycare beds, 14 premium treatment bays, and a 15-bed ICU. Comprehensive services offered include endoscopy, mammography, advanced laboratories, and histopathology.
Manish Mattoo, HCG's chief executive, highlighted the facility's commitment to patient-centric care, multidisciplinary expertise, and cutting-edge technology.
