The Supreme Court has heavily criticized the Rajasthan government for severe pollution in the Jojari, Bandi, and Luni rivers, turning them into drains of industrial waste and sewage. Threatening over two million lives, the court revived the National Green Tribunal's clean-up directions from 2022 and formed a High-Level Ecosystem Oversight Committee headed by Justice Sangeet Lodha to supervise restoration efforts. The court emphasized that regulatory apathy led to irreversible environmental damage, impacting citizens' fundamental right to life.
