Suzlon Energy Ltd has announced a remarkable financial performance for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2025-26, with its net profit soaring six times to ₹1,279 crore. This impressive growth was largely attributed to strong revenue generation from its core Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) business, which saw sales more than double to ₹3,240 crore. Revenue from operations witnessed an 85% year-on-year increase, reaching ₹3,865 crore. The company also reported a 46% rise in revenue from its foundry and forging segment to ₹121 crore, and a 2% increase in income from operation and maintenance services to ₹575 crore.
A significant contributor to the net profit was the recognition of an incremental Deferred Tax Asset (DTA) of ₹717 crore during the quarter. This tax gain, combined with operational efficiencies, led to the substantial Profit After Tax.
JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, expressed satisfaction with the results, highlighting the highest-ever Q2 deliveries in India, which reached 565 MW, a significant jump from 256 MW in the same period last year. He also pointed to the robust order book of 6.2 GW as a testament to the company's strategy and execution capabilities.
Impact This news is highly positive for Suzlon Energy and the renewable energy sector in India. The strong financial results and order book signal robust demand and successful execution, which could lead to increased investor confidence and potentially boost the company's stock performance. The growth in WTG sales indicates strong adoption of wind energy in India. Rating: 9/10
Difficult Terms Explained: Deferred Tax Assets (DTA): These are potential tax savings for a company in the future, arising from temporary differences between accounting and tax rules. Recognizing them can boost current profits, as seen in Suzlon's case.
