WattPower Bags 1 GW Solar Inverter Order From ReNew

WattPower has secured a 1 GW solar inverter supply contract from ReNew, announced at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2026. The deal involves supplying 330KTL and advanced WP-506KTL grid-forming inverters for deployment in fiscal year 2028. This agreement strengthens their long-standing partnership and supports the grid stability requirements of ReNew’s expanding utility-scale renewable projects.

WattPower has announced a significant supply agreement with ReNew to provide 1 gigawatt (GW) of solar inverters. The deal, formally signed at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2026, involves the delivery of two specific inverter models: the 330KTL string inverters and the advanced WP-506KTL grid-forming units. These components are scheduled to be deployed throughout the 2028 financial year.

The inclusion of grid-forming inverters is a specific technical focus of this order. As the national power grid integrates more electricity from renewable sources, maintaining stability becomes more complex. Unlike standard inverters, grid-forming units act as a supportive layer, helping to keep the grid steady even when conditions fluctuate. This technology is becoming a priority for developers like ReNew as they scale up their utility-scale solar capacity.

This contract is not the first collaboration between the two companies. It follows an earlier 1.2 GW supply agreement announced in June 2023. For market observers, this repeat business indicates that ReNew is comfortable with WattPower’s hardware, which may reduce the time needed for project integration and vendor qualification in future phases.

While this order provides a clear revenue visibility for WattPower in the coming fiscal year, investors should keep an eye on execution. Large-scale renewable projects often face challenges such as delivery delays, supply chain bottlenecks, and the technical complexities of installing newer inverter technologies like the WP-506KTL model. Any snag in the manufacturing or delivery timeline could impact project timelines for ReNew and, by extension, the revenue realization for the supplier.

Furthermore, the renewable energy sector remains sensitive to regulatory shifts and price fluctuations in raw materials. While the demand for high-capacity power electronics remains strong due to India's push for renewable energy, the final financial benefit to the companies will depend on how efficiently they manage costs and integrate these systems on the ground. The key monitorable for stakeholders will be the pace of project commissioning in the 2028 financial year and whether the new grid-forming technology performs as expected under varied grid conditions.
