Gas Pipeline Nears Halfway Mark
Installation of the 119.5-kilometer natural gas pipeline connecting Tripura and Mizoram has achieved 45 percent completion, officials confirmed on Thursday. Executed by Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGCL) under the North East Natural Gas Pipeline Grid initiative, the project is slated for completion by December 2027.
Route and Supply Chain
The pipeline will originate at the Panisagar receiving terminal in Tripura, traversing through several locations before reaching near Mamit in Mizoram. From a proposed Sihhmui receiving terminal near Aizawl, Tripura Natural Gas Corporation Limited (TNGCL) will manage household gas connections within the city.
Ministerial Inspection and Economic Outlook
Mizoram's State Civil Supplies Minister, B Lalchhanzova, visited Agartala to inspect the project's progress, meeting with TNGCL and ONGC officials. He highlighted the project's significance for Mizoram, anticipating affordable gas, support for commercial and industrial sectors, job creation, and overall industrial development in the state. He urged IGCL and TNGCL to ensure timely completion.
