The project operates under the 'Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0' (MSKVY 2.0), which aligns with the central government’s PM-KUSUM Component-C scheme. The primary goal of this initiative is to install solar projects to provide daytime electricity directly to agricultural feeders. By generating power closer to where it is used, the utility aims to reduce the load on the main grid and lower electricity distribution losses.
The scale of this deployment was significant, spanning 14 talukas and 50 different geographical locations. Successful execution required navigating challenges such as land acquisition, grid synchronization, and local regulatory clearances. All electricity generated from these installations is contracted to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under a 25-year power purchase agreement. This long-term contract is designed to provide Torrent Power with steady, predictable revenue over the life of the assets.
