What Happened

Suzlon Energy has announced a new order for 105 MW of wind power capacity from Sunsure Energy. The order involves the supply, installation, and commissioning of 21 units of the new S175 wind turbine generators. These turbines will be installed in Bijapur, Karnataka. This contract is the third order from Sunsure Energy to Suzlon in less than 14 months, bringing the total partnership volume between the two companies to 400.8 MW.

The S175 Turbine Debut

Launched only two weeks prior, the S175 is marketed as India’s tallest and most powerful wind turbine. It features a 175-meter rotor and a 160-meter hybrid lattice tower. This technology is intended to make wind energy projects viable in areas that were previously considered unsuitable due to lower wind speeds.
