Power Mech Projects has secured a Rs 549.37 crore operation and maintenance contract for Adani Group’s 1,200 MW Tuticorin thermal power plant. The five-year deal, starting October 1, 2026, adds to the company’s portfolio of long-term, recurring revenue service agreements.
Hyderabad-based infrastructure firm Power Mech Projects has been awarded a service contract valued at Rs 549.37 crore from Moxie Power Generation, a subsidiary of the Adani Group. This agreement covers the operation and maintenance (O&M) of a 1,200 MW thermal power facility located in Tuticorin. The project is set to run for 60 months, beginning on October 1, 2026.
5-Year O&M Contract for 1,200 MW Plant
The scope of work involves managing the day-to-day operations and technical maintenance of the Tuticorin thermal power plant. By operating as the facility manager, Power Mech Projects will be responsible for ensuring the plant's operational performance throughout the five-year tenure. This type of service contract is distinct from typical engineering and construction projects as it focuses on ongoing operational support rather than one-time site building.
Why Recurring Revenue Matters for Power Mech
For investors, the shift toward long-term service contracts is a key part of Power Mech Projects’ business strategy. Unlike project-based construction work, which often has a clear start and end date, O&M contracts provide a predictable stream of revenue. This helps the company stabilize its cash flow over the contract period. Managing large-scale thermal assets also helps the company deepen its technical expertise, which is essential for competing in the utility-scale power sector.
Operational Risks and Monitoring
While this contract offers long-term visibility, the actual profitability will depend on the company's ability to manage maintenance costs efficiently. In O&M projects, operational margins can sometimes come under pressure if unforeseen maintenance expenses arise or if the cost of specialized labor and spare parts increases beyond estimates. Investors should monitor how the company manages these operational costs in its quarterly filings. Additionally, the overall health of the power sector and continued demand for thermal power generation remain important factors for such long-term contracts.
Moving forward, investors can track the progress of this contract through the company’s quarterly results, where management typically provides updates on the order book and the execution status of various service agreements. The focus for shareholders will be on whether the company can maintain healthy profit margins while executing this five-year mandate.
