The Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (MSETCL) is upgrading its 220 kV Padgha-Pal transmission line to improve power stability in the Kalyan-Dombivli region. While alternative lines are active, the company has cautioned that technical issues could lead to temporary power outages until the work concludes on August 26.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) has initiated a key infrastructure upgrade on its 220 kV Padgha-Pal transmission line. This project, which began on July 26, is aimed at strengthening the electrical grid for the Kalyan, Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, and Badlapur regions. These areas are significant industrial and residential hubs, making grid stability essential for both daily life and local business operations.

Project Timeline and Grid Management

Managed by the Dombivli Extra High Voltage Operation and Maintenance Department, the project is scheduled to run for one month, with a completion target of August 26. To prevent widespread power cuts during this period, MSETCL has diverted the electricity load to the 220 kV Padgha-Jambhul transmission line. This setup is designed to serve as a backup route, ensuring that power remains available to consumers while the primary line undergoes maintenance.

Operational Risks for Consumers

Despite the existence of an alternative supply route, MSETCL officials have alerted the public to potential risks. Ajit Igatpurikar, the Deputy Chief Public Relations Officer, noted that if technical malfunctions or unexpected faults occur on the alternative Padgha-Jambhul line during the maintenance phase, the company may be forced to implement temporary load shedding or regulated power supply.
