Luxembourg-based infrastructure firm Innovation Platform Capital (iPC) has submitted a proposal to invest ₹83,480 crore in Karnataka, aiming to build a massive integrated facility for hyperscale data centers and green hydrogen production. This proposal is planned to be executed in three phases, targeting a location between Bengaluru and Tumakuru. The initial phase is valued at ₹17,114 crore and seeks to establish 400 MW of data center capacity alongside a 500 MW green hydrogen and power complex.
Project Scale and Resource Needs
The ambition behind this project is substantial, with a total planned IT load of 2,250 MW for the data centers and 1,000 MW for green hydrogen generation. To support this, iPC has requested the state government for 1,000 acres of land. A critical component of the proposal is the water requirement, estimated at 13 million liters per day (MLD). To manage this, the company has proposed a sustainable model that relies heavily on treated industrial effluent and a recycling system designed to recover 80 to 85 percent of the water used. This reliance on recycled water is a central part of their environmental and operational plan, as freshwater scarcity remains a major hurdle for large-scale industrial projects in the region.
