Overview

Tata Power Company Ltd has signed commercial agreements with Bhutan's Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd (DGPC) to develop the 1,125 MW Dorjilung hydroelectric power project in Bhutan. The project, a run-of-the-river facility on the Kurichhu river, involves a ₹1,572 crore equity investment from Tata Power, which will hold a 40% stake in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) while DGPC holds 60%. Set to be Bhutan’s second-largest hydropower project and largest public-private partnership, it is expected to be commissioned by September 2031, with 80% of the generated power supplied to India, significantly boosting regional energy security.
