Detailed Coverage :

An Indian non-profit news website, Cobrapost, has published an extensive report accusing the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (Reliance ADA Group) of a "massive financial fraud" amounting to around ₹28,874 crore. The investigation claims that funds sourced from public sector banks, IPO proceeds, and bonds were allegedly diverted to companies linked to the group's promoters. The report names six listed entities of the Reliance ADA Group as being involved in this alleged diversion.

Cobrapost further alleges that a significant portion of these funds, approximately $1.53 billion (around ₹13,047.50 crore), flowed into ADA Group companies from overseas sources in a "dubious manner." One specific transaction cited involves a Singapore-based company, Emerging Market Investments & Trading Pte (EMITS), remitting $750 million to Reliance Innoventure Pvt Ltd, before EMITS and its subsidiaries were dissolved, potentially constituting money laundering. The total alleged diversion, domestic and foreign, is claimed to exceed ₹41,921 crore, routed through numerous pass-through entities, subsidiaries, and offshore vehicles in various tax havens.

The report also brings up the acquisition of a luxury yacht by Anil Ambani in 2008, suggesting it was purchased using business funds diverted for personal luxury, costing the Indian public around $20 million.

Impact This news can significantly impact investor confidence in the Reliance ADA Group and potentially affect the stock prices of its listed entities. It may also lead to increased scrutiny from regulatory bodies like SEBI and the RBI, prompting further investigations into corporate governance and financial practices within the group. The allegations, if substantiated, could have broader implications for market perception of major conglomerates. Rating: 8/10.
