US Markets See Weekly Gains Amid Mixed Investor Sentiment

Major US indices including the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite recovered last week, posting gains between 1% and 1.6%. While this bounce offers short-term relief, the overall market remains cautious as indices test key technical resistance levels. Investors are currently watching how these benchmarks react to stable US Treasury yields and shifting currency trends.

US stock markets closed the week with a modest recovery, as major benchmarks managed to stop their recent downward slide. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 both rose by 1%, while the Nasdaq Composite recorded a stronger gain of approximately 1.6%. Despite these positive weekly figures, the market environment continues to show conflicting signals, leaving investors to weigh short-term price rebounds against persistent resistance levels.

Technical Levels to Watch in Major Indices

The Dow Jones recently found a base at 51,556 after dipping below the 51,800 mark. Traders are now monitoring the 53,000 to 53,100 zone as a critical barrier; a move above this range could signal further strength. On the downside, maintaining support at 51,500 remains vital, as a failure to hold this level might indicate a shift toward more bearish territory.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 continues to consolidate, trading within a tight corridor of 7,235 to 7,620 over the past two months. This index is currently testing the upper end of its range. A decisive breakout above 7,620 would be needed to suggest a clearer upward trend, whereas failing to clear this hurdle could return the index to its established support levels near 7,200.

The Nasdaq Composite has also seen a recovery from its recent low of 24,425, though its broader trend is still viewed with caution. Resistance is now forming between 25,600 and 25,750. For a more sustained positive outlook, the index would likely need to clear the 26,000 ceiling, which has served as a significant point of difficulty in recent sessions.

Impact of Currency and Bond Markets

Beyond equity indices, the Dollar Index has seen notable movement, sliding from a high of 101.64 to 99.80. This decline follows coordinated interventions by US and Japanese authorities aimed at stabilizing the Yen. Any bounce from the immediate support level of 99.60 could influence market sentiment, while a move lower might signal continued weakness for the dollar.

At the same time, the US 10-Year Treasury Yield has demonstrated resilience, climbing back to 4.72% after testing the 4.6% support level. This rise suggests that the bond market remains sensitive to interest rate expectations. Investors are closely monitoring whether these yields will push toward the 4.8% level or retreat, as this often acts as a key indicator for equity market risk appetite. Moving forward, market participants will likely focus on whether these indices can confirm their recent gains by breaking through established resistance levels or if they will face renewed pressure in the coming weeks.
