The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is planning a significant redesign of Aadhaar cards to enhance privacy and prevent data misuse. The new cards will reportedly only display the cardholder's photograph and a QR code, omitting sensitive details like name, address, and Aadhaar number. This move aims to discourage offline verification practices by entities that currently collect Aadhaar photocopies. The redesigned card is expected to be implemented by December 2025, with a new app offering enhanced features for users.
