Financial Services Secretary M. Nagaraju announced India is in talks with 7-8 countries to link the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) internationally, aiming for expansion by next year. UPI is already operational in Singapore, UAE, France, Nepal, Bhutan, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka. The government plans to focus next on the Middle East and East Asia, followed by Europe, to serve the large Indian diaspora.
