The Indian stock market demonstrated strong upward momentum, with the Sensex closing up 0.71% at 84,466.51 and the Nifty 50 ending 0.70% higher at 25,875.80, marking their third consecutive day of gains. The Nifty even crossed the 25,900 mark intraday. Positive global cues, coupled with exit polls predicting a clear victory for the NDA in Bihar and progress in India-US trade talks, significantly boosted investor sentiment. Broader indices also performed well; the Nifty Midcap index reached a new 52-week high, and the Smallcap index rose by 0.8%. The Nifty Bank index moved closer to its 52-week high, closing up 0.23%. Sectors like Media, Auto, Telecom, IT, and Consumer Durables saw gains of 1-2%, while the Realty sector lagged. Several stocks showed significant movement, with Asian Paints, Adani Enterprises, Tech Mahindra, TCS, and HDFC Life being key Nifty gainers. On the downside, Tata Steel and Shriram Finance were among the notable losers. In specific stock news, BSE shares jumped 5% on a 61% profit surge, L&T Technology Services rose 1.5% on a new partnership, and Gujarat Fluorochemicals climbed 5% after a 48% profit jump. Conversely, Thermax saw a 3% dip due to a 39% profit decline. Kirloskar Oil Engines rallied 11% on a 27% profit increase, and Advanced Enzyme added 8% on strong Q2 results. Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services surged 4% after reporting a 72% profit increase. The parent company of stock broking platform Groww, Billionbrains Garage Ventures, debuted on the BSE, closing 30.9% above its IPO price. More than 130 stocks touched their 52-week highs. Experts like Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities and Rupak De of LKP Securities anticipate further upside, targeting 26100-26200 for Nifty, with immediate support at 25700. Shrikant Chouhan of Kotak Securities also views the trend positively, with support at 25700-25775 and potential targets of 26000-26100.
Impact This news suggests a strong positive sentiment in the Indian stock market, driven by a combination of global optimism, domestic political stability indications, and improving trade relations. The broad-based buying and numerous stocks hitting 52-week highs indicate healthy investor confidence. If the Nifty maintains its upward momentum above key support levels, further gains are probable. The successful IPO listing also adds to positive market sentiment. Rating: 7/10
