Overview

The Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) is calling on the United States to immediately remove the 25% tariff imposed on India's crude oil trade with Russia. GTRI argues that the tariff's original purpose, to penalize India for financing Russia's war, is no longer valid as India has significantly reduced its Russian oil imports and increased energy procurement from the US. Continuing the tariff risks harming trade relations and Indian exporters.
