The Centre has notified the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) and formed a three-member panel headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. However, employee unions, including the Confederation of Central Government Employees & Workers, are raising objections to the Terms of Reference (ToR). They cite a lack of clarity on pension revision for 69 lakh pensioners and demand amendments, including deletion of 'unfunded cost' terminology and specific mentions for old and new pension schemes.
