Overview

India's Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released a discussion paper proposing key methodological changes to national accounts, including a revision of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) base year to 2022/23. This significant statistical update, set for release on February 27, 2026, aims to better capture economic structural changes by refining estimation approaches. Led by the Advisory Committee on National Account Statistics (ACNAS), chaired by B.N. Goldar, the revisions cover production, income, and expenditure methods, offering stakeholders an early look.
