Bitcoin Slides Below $77,000 Amid Fed and Inflation Fears

Bitcoin extended its losing streak for a fourth day, falling below $77,000 on September 11, 2026. The decline follows hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation data and rising crude oil prices, which have boosted expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike. Institutional sentiment has also weakened as spot Bitcoin ETFs shift from inflows to net outflows.

Bitcoin extended its downward trend into a fourth consecutive session, trading below the $77,000 level on September 11, 2026. The decline reflects a broader retreat from risk assets as investors adjust to a more challenging macroeconomic environment in the United States.

The selling pressure is primarily driven by hotter-than-expected inflation data. The U.S. Producer Price Index for August rose 5.4% year-over-year, coming in higher than estimates. This has led to a significant increase in market expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike, with current data from CME FedWatch showing over a 70% probability of an increase at the September 15–16 meeting. Higher interest rates typically reduce the appeal of speculative assets like cryptocurrencies, as they increase the return available on safer investments like government bonds.

Energy and debt markets are further amplifying these pressures. Crude oil prices have climbed above $100 per barrel, raising concerns about persistent, elevated inflation that could keep central bank policy tighter for longer. Simultaneously, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield is nearing the 5% threshold, creating stiff competition for capital. When bond yields rise, investors often pull money out of riskier assets, placing a ceiling on potential price gains for digital assets.

A key change in market dynamics is the shift in institutional demand. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, which acted as a major pillar of support during early September, have reversed course. After recording consistent inflows, recent days have seen a move toward net outflows. This reduction in institutional buying power has removed a critical cushion for the asset, leaving it more vulnerable to broader market sentiment.

Technical levels are now a major focus for market participants. Analysts are closely watching the $76,000 support zone. A sustained drop below this level could trigger additional liquidation of leveraged trading positions, potentially increasing downward volatility. Conversely, the market remains in a neutral state, with the Crypto Fear and Greed Index at 55. For the near term, investors are tracking the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting, potential shifts in Treasury yields, and whether ETF flows stabilize or continue to drain capital from the market.
