Binance Expands Withdrawal Resumption After $6.3 Billion Theft

Binance has reopened withdrawal services across major blockchain networks following the massive $6.3 billion security breach on October 29, 2026. The exchange reported manageable outflows of $3.64 billion and has committed its reserves to cover all user losses, even as the platform remains under scrutiny.

Binance has initiated a broad restoration of withdrawal services across several major blockchain networks as of November 3, 2026. The exchange confirmed that users can now move assets across platforms including the BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, Solana, Ripple, and Sui, as well as ecosystems like Arbitrum, Optimism, Tron, and Base. This move follows a phased reopening strategy that began on November 1, 2026, aimed at normalizing platform operations after a significant operational pause.

The suspension of services was triggered by a security breach reported on October 29, 2026, which resulted in the theft of approximately $6.3 billion in assets from the exchange's hot wallets. This incident marks the largest cyber theft in the history of the cryptocurrency sector, prompting an immediate halt to withdrawals to prevent further exposure while security teams addressed the vulnerability.

Following the partial resumption of services, Binance disclosed that it experienced net outflows of roughly $3.64 billion. The exchange described this activity as manageable, noting that the figure represents approximately 2.1% of its total $171 billion in assets under management. Despite this liquidity event, the exchange has reiterated its commitment to fully compensate affected users. The compensation plan is backed by the company's corporate reserves and the Secure Asset Fund for Users, a dedicated emergency insurance fund established to handle such contingencies.

While operations are returning to normal, the company faces ongoing pressure. The native token, BNB, has seen increased market volatility, trading near $700 in the wake of the incident. Additionally, the event has drawn the attention of law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which has launched an investigation into the theft. For investors and users, the key monitorable will be the stability of these networks as transaction volumes normalize and the progress of the ongoing regulatory and criminal investigations.

Risks for the platform remain, primarily concerning reputational damage and the potential for prolonged market volatility if confidence does not fully recover. Furthermore, while the exchange has pledged to cover losses, the operational complexity of managing such a large-scale recovery continues to be a factor that the market is watching closely.
