Virat Kohli Increases Agilitas Sports Stake to 6.4% After Merger

Virat Kohli has raised his stake in Agilitas Sports to 6.4% following the NCLT-approved merger with his brand, One8. This integration links One8 with Agilitas’s manufacturing and research infrastructure to support a global expansion plan. Founded by former Puma India executives, the company is targeting revenue between Rs 1,800 crore and Rs 1,900 crore for the current fiscal year.

The National Company Law Tribunal has cleared the merger of One8 Sports Private Limited into Agilitas Sports Private Limited. As part of this consolidation, cricketer Virat Kohli has increased his equity stake in the company to 6.4%, up from 1.8%. This change in ownership follows a fresh capital injection of Rs 40 crore by the cricketer. The merger is designed to integrate the One8 brand directly into the Agilitas ecosystem, which includes existing assets like Lotto brand licensing and the Mochiko Shoes manufacturing unit.

Expanding Through Vertical Integration

Agilitas Sports, which was founded in 2023 by former Puma India executives Abhishek Ganguly, Atul Bajaj, and Amit Prabhu, is pursuing a strategy of vertical integration. This approach covers the full chain from material science and product design to large-scale retail distribution. The company plans to use this combined infrastructure to enter international markets, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia. By bringing the One8 brand into this setup, Agilitas aims to scale its product offerings and distribution reach more effectively than before.

Financial Growth and Market Position

The company has shown rapid growth since its inception. For the fiscal year 2026, Agilitas reported revenue of approximately Rs 1,400 crore. The management has projected an increase for the current fiscal year, targeting revenues between Rs 1,800 crore and Rs 1,900 crore. This growth is supported by institutional investors, including Convergent Finance, Nexus Venture Partners, and Rainmatter, which is associated with Zerodha. The company is currently building out its R&D and manufacturing capacity to support a multi-brand strategy, which also includes its proprietary retail format, SportsYard.

While the company has seen strong growth in its initial years, the success of its global expansion plans will depend on its ability to execute in competitive international markets. Integrating different brands and manufacturing units also requires careful operational management to maintain margins. Investors in the consumer and sportswear sector may track the company’s ability to manage its rising scale and the integration of new brands as it moves toward its revenue targets.
