Titan Targets Festive Sales As Tanishq Exchange Program Gains

Titan Company’s jewellery arm, Tanishq, is leaning on strong festive and wedding-season demand to drive sales despite fluctuating gold prices. With gold exchange programs now accounting for over half of all store transactions, the company is managing consumer price sensitivity while preparing for its quarterly earnings announcement.

Tanishq, the jewellery division of Titan Company, is focusing on the current festive and wedding cycle to maintain its growth momentum. The brand is navigating the challenge of volatile gold prices by encouraging customers to use exchange programs, a strategy that is helping to keep footfalls steady even when gold rates are high.

Recent business data shows that gold exchange programs now contribute to over 50% of total transactions at Tanishq outlets. This shift in purchasing behavior allows customers to trade in their old jewellery to purchase new items, effectively reducing the cash outlay required for wedding and festive buying. By focusing on these exchanges, the company is successfully maintaining volume in a price-sensitive market.

Financially, Titan’s domestic jewellery business recorded approximately 22% growth for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. While this is a healthy figure, it represents a moderation from previous quarters. Much of this change is attributed to the timing of festive seasons, specifically the shifting of Navratri into the third quarter, which created a temporary base effect on growth numbers.

Investors looking at Titan’s performance should turn their attention to the upcoming board meeting scheduled for November 5, 2026. This meeting will be critical as the company reviews its quarterly financial results. Market participants will likely focus on whether the brand can protect its profit margins while managing the impact of gold price fluctuations on inventory value.

Beyond domestic operations, Titan has been active in expanding its international footprint, including the recent acquisition of a 67% stake in Damas Jewellery. This move resulted in a significant 97% year-on-year surge in international revenue during the second quarter. However, as the company continues its expansion, it relies more on borrowing, which investors should monitor in the context of the overall debt-to-equity ratio.

While the wedding season is expected to support revenue, the jewellery sector faces ongoing challenges. Competitive intensity remains high, and any prolonged, sharp movement in gold prices could alter consumer demand patterns. The key monitorable for the coming months will be the official management commentary regarding the sustainability of current demand levels and how successfully the company can manage costs amidst its aggressive expansion strategy.
