Swarovski Targets Doubling India Business After ₹478 Cr Sales

Austria-based crystal maker Swarovski plans to double its Indian revenue within the next five years. Following a 26% sales jump to ₹478 crore in FY25, the company is betting on aggressive retail expansion and affordable luxury. Investors should note that the firm operates as a private entity in India and is not listed on the stock exchanges.

Austrian crystal and jewellery giant Swarovski is significantly expanding its footprint in the Indian market, setting a goal to double its revenue over the next four to five years. This announcement follows a strong financial performance in the fiscal year 2025, where the company’s Indian unit reported sales of ₹478 crore, marking a 26% year-on-year growth.

Retail and Strategy Pivot

The brand is focusing on an aggressive expansion strategy to capture a larger share of the Indian jewellery market, which has traditionally been dominated by gold and heritage pieces. Swarovski currently operates a network of 82 stores and over 350 retail distribution points across the country. To achieve its growth targets, the company is shifting its brand perception. It is moving away from being seen strictly as high-end luxury and is instead pushing a mix of products priced for broader accessibility. This shift is designed to attract younger professionals and urban consumers who are increasingly purchasing jewellery for personal use rather than just for gifting.

India as a Manufacturing Hub

Beyond retail, India serves as a critical link in the company's global supply chain. The firm has established significant manufacturing facilities in the country, which help support its international operations. Facilities in Pune are primarily dedicated to the production of pearls and figurines, while operations in Surat are focused on lab-grown diamonds, which are then exported to serve global markets. This dual role as both a retail brand and a production hub highlights the strategic importance of India in the company’s broader operational model.

Market Context and Competition

For investors monitoring the retail and luxury sector, it is important to clarify that Swarovski India Private Limited operates as a private, family-owned company. It is not listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) or the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), meaning there is no direct way for public market investors to buy shares in the Indian entity.

However, the company’s performance and expansion plans provide insight into the competitive nature of India’s jewellery landscape. Swarovski faces intense competition from both organized large-scale jewellery retailers and the vast, fragmented unorganized sector that still controls a significant portion of the domestic market. The company’s success in doubling its business will likely depend on its ability to maintain profit margins while investing heavily in store expansion, and whether it can effectively change consumer habits to prefer fashion-forward crystal jewellery over traditional precious metal assets. The primary monitorable for industry observers will be the company’s success in penetrating emerging urban centers where mall culture and organized retail are growing.
