Speciality Restaurants Targets 200 Outlets by FY30 With ₹200 Cr Plan

Speciality Restaurants plans a ₹200 crore investment to reach 200 outlets by FY30. The company is pivoting toward core Asian and Italian segments to target 20% annual revenue growth. Investors will monitor how this expansion strategy balances with operating margins and competitive pressures in the casual dining space.

Speciality Restaurants, the operator of dining brands including Mainland China and Oh! Calcutta, has announced a strategic shift to scale its business over the next four years. The company plans to invest ₹200 crore to expand its network to 200 outlets by fiscal year 2030, growing from its current footprint of 120 locations. This expansion is part of a broader move to consolidate its portfolio by prioritizing core revenue drivers in Asian, Italian, and quick-service restaurant (QSR) segments, moving away from a wider, multi-concept strategy.

Financial Performance and Growth Targets

For the financial year ended March 2026, the company reported revenue of ₹476.47 crore. While revenue grew, net profit saw a slight decline to ₹20.72 crore. On the positive side, gross margins improved by 120 basis points to 70.7%, indicating that the company is maintaining control over its food costs. During the quarter ended June 2026, same-store sales—a metric tracking growth at existing outlets—increased by 11.35%, suggesting healthy demand for its core offerings.

Managing Capital and Competition

A key part of the current strategy is not just opening new stores but also maximizing returns from existing ones. The company is testing a refurbishment model where modernized Mainland China locations have delivered revenue gains of approximately 35%, with EBITDA margins reaching 22% to 25%. This success has led management to balance new expansion with the renovation of established sites. Meanwhile, heritage brands like Oh! Calcutta and Sigree Global Grill are being rebranded rather than scaled aggressively, allowing the company to manage its capital allocation more efficiently.

The restaurant sector in India is highly competitive, and success often depends on managing rising rental costs, food inflation, and shifting consumer preferences. Unlike pure-play QSR giants that focus on rapid, high-volume expansion, Speciality Restaurants occupies a niche space in casual and fine dining. This positioning means the company is more sensitive to changes in discretionary consumer spending, where customers may reduce dining frequency during periods of economic pressure.

For investors, the primary monitorable will be the execution of this expansion plan. The company has highlighted a four-year payback period for new stores, which means tracking how quickly new locations achieve profitability will be essential. Additionally, investors will watch whether the focused strategy on Asian and Italian cuisines can successfully boost the annual revenue growth rate toward the target of 20%, significantly outpacing the 9.2% growth recorded in FY26. Maintaining margin stability while managing the costs of both new openings and refurbishments will likely remain a focus for management in the coming quarters.
