Patanjali Foods Shares Rise 6.5% on FY27 Growth Outlook

Patanjali Foods shares climbed to Rs 390.75 following ambitious FY27 expansion targets for its FMCG and food businesses. While the company reported strong Q1 results, investors are balancing this growth plan against supply chain bottlenecks in edible oils and weak rural demand. The management also clarified the status of promoter-held stakes to address past governance concerns.

Patanjali Foods witnessed a 6.5 percent gain in its share price, reaching Rs 390.75, following a positive growth outlook provided by the management for the 2027 fiscal year. This recent rally contributes to a 15 percent rise over the last four trading sessions. The company is setting ambitious targets, aiming for 18 to 20 percent growth in its FMCG division and 8 to 10 percent in its foods segment. These projections indicate a strong focus on scaling the core product portfolio despite a challenging macroeconomic environment.

Financial performance in the June quarter of fiscal year 2027 supports this optimistic view. The company reported revenue of Rs 11,337.5 crore, a 29 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Net profit also saw a substantial jump, reaching Rs 335.7 crore, marking an 86 percent year-on-year rise. These figures follow four consecutive quarters of revenue growth, suggesting that the company is currently maintaining momentum in its core business operations.

However, investors should be aware of operational pressures. Management noted that the company is currently facing hurdles, particularly with the supply of sunflower oil, where a significant portion of imports is currently stalled. This bottleneck can impact inventory replenishment and potentially squeeze profit margins if costs remain high. Furthermore, the company is dealing with uneven consumer demand. While urban markets remain resilient, rural areas are showing signs of sluggishness, which the management has linked to insufficient monsoon cycles. As a major player in the edible oil and food sector, Patanjali Foods faces competition from companies like Adani Wilmar, and the ability to manage raw material costs amid global supply chain volatility will be a key factor for profitability.

Governance and debt management are also central to the company’s current investor narrative. To soothe concerns that have previously weighed on the stock, management confirmed that there are no loans secured against the promoters' 38 percent stake in the company. This clarification is part of a broader effort to restore investor confidence. Additionally, recent legal developments for the wider Patanjali group at the Delhi High Court have helped alleviate some of the pressure that had previously affected the stock's performance earlier in the year.

The next important phase for the company will be its ability to translate these growth targets into actual cash flow, with leadership projecting between Rs 700 to 800 crore in free cash flow. Investors should closely monitor how the company handles the sunflower oil supply constraints and whether rural demand recovers in the coming quarters, as these factors will directly influence the sustainability of the projected growth.
