Page Industries Q1 Revenue Misses Estimates; Stock Recovers

Page Industries reported revenue of ₹1,420 crore for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, missing analyst expectations amid supply chain constraints. Despite a 4% decline in net profit, the company announced an interim dividend of ₹200 per share. The stock experienced volatility, falling after the results were released before gaining ground the following day.

Page Industries, the manufacturer of the Jockey brand in India, posted its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 on August 13, 2026. The company reported a revenue of ₹1,420 crore, marking a 7.9% year-on-year growth, which fell short of analyst estimates. Net profit for the period stood at ₹193 crore, a decline of 4% compared to the same period last year, while EBITDA fell 1.9% to ₹289 crore.

Operational Hurdles and Financial Impact

The company cited temporary logistics and manpower shortages during June as the primary reasons for the performance miss. Management noted that billing for the final seven days of the quarter could not be completed, leading to approximately 3-4% of sales being deferred to the second quarter. While this indicates a delay rather than a loss of sales, it contributed to margin compression, alongside inflationary pressure from raw materials like cotton and synthetic products. Despite these headwinds, the management reiterated its guidance for double-digit volume growth for the full fiscal year, supported by its ongoing collaboration with brands like Disney and Marvel and the expansion of the JKY Groove product line.

Dividend Announcement and Share Price Reaction

Alongside the financial results, Page Industries announced an interim dividend of ₹200 per share. The record date for this dividend is set for August 19, 2026. The stock market reacted to the mixed results with volatility. Following the report on August 13, 2026, the share price closed 4.64% lower. However, the stock rebounded on August 14, 2026, gaining approximately 3.21% as investors processed the update regarding deferred sales and the dividend.

Monitoring Risks and Outlook

While the company remains confident about its growth trajectory, investors may continue to monitor several factors. The first is the stability of profit margins, which remain sensitive to input cost fluctuations. Additionally, with the stock trading at a price-to-earnings multiple of approximately 52x, market participants often keep a close watch on volume recovery to justify such valuations. The brokerage Motilal Oswal has maintained a buy rating with a price target of ₹45,000, viewing the recent operational issues as a short-term challenge. The key monitorable for the coming months will be the company’s ability to execute its delivery targets and protect its profitability against ongoing cost pressures.
