PC Jeweller Shares Rise 30% After Cupid Boss Buys Stake

PC Jeweller shares climbed 30% over two days after Cupid Chairman Aditya Kumar Halwasiya acquired 5.1 crore shares. This follows the retail jeweler’s announcement that it has successfully settled its ₹3,000 crore bank debt. Investors are focusing on the firm’s financial turnaround, which includes a 28% revenue growth reported in the second quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year.

PC Jeweller shares rose 30% over the last two trading sessions, driven by a combination of a significant equity acquisition and a major improvement in the company's balance sheet. The stock saw a 12% gain in a single session following the news that Cupid Chairman Aditya Kumar Halwasiya bought 5.1 crore shares in the company. The transaction was valued at approximately ₹73.59 crore, with an average price of ₹14.43 per share, indicating a high-profile entry into the retail jewelry firm.

The company has confirmed that it is now debt-free after successfully completing a one-time settlement process. This process involved clearing roughly ₹3,000 crore in outstanding loans across a consortium of 14 banks. For years, the interest burden from these liabilities had been a point of pressure for the company’s financial performance. With these obligations now removed, the firm is expected to see a shift in its bottom line as future interest expenses are eliminated.

Alongside the debt clearance, operational metrics have shown positive movement. In the second quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, the company reported a 28% year-on-year growth in consolidated revenue. This suggests that the retail demand for the company’s products remains steady and the business is recovering its momentum.

For investors, the key transition lies in the shift from a distressed company with heavy debt to one that has cleared its past financial hurdles. The immediate interest lies in whether this growth in revenue can be sustained and whether the absence of interest costs will lead to more stable profits. Investors may want to track the next quarterly performance to see if the reduction in debt improves the company's net profit margins and operational cash flow. The stock’s recent movement reflects market optimism regarding this turnaround, though performance will ultimately depend on the company's ability to maintain sales growth in the competitive jewelry market.
