Naturis Cosmetics Raises ₹100 Crore for Vapi Expansion

Naturis Cosmetics has secured ₹100 crore in its first external funding round led by Sharrp Ventures. The company plans to use these funds to build a new 225,000 square foot factory in Vapi and expand its research capabilities. This investment highlights growing investor interest in India's beauty and personal care manufacturing sector.

Naturis Cosmetics, an Indian manufacturer serving the beauty and personal care industry, has raised ₹100 crore in its first external funding round. The investment was led by Sharrp Ventures and included participation from Mirabilis Investment Trust, Anicut Capital, and Niveshaay. The funding marks a significant milestone for the firm as it looks to scale its operations to meet rising demand from domestic and international brands.

Scaling Manufacturing and R&D

The company intends to deploy the capital toward major infrastructure projects to increase its production capacity. A primary project is the construction of a 225,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Vapi, Gujarat. This new facility will complement the company’s existing 200,000 square foot production site, which currently supports a capacity of 84 million units. Additionally, Naturis plans to set up an experience center in the National Capital Region and a dedicated research and development hub in Mumbai to focus on product innovation.

Strategic Position in the BPC Sector

Naturis operates as a contract manufacturer, providing formulation and production services for over 50 brands across the beauty, personal care, and pharmaceutical industries. Its current client portfolio includes major consumer brands like Nykaa, Purplle, Pilgrim, Kay Beauty, and Colorbar, as well as pharmaceutical players such as Glenmark and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. The company’s business model focuses on acting as an original design manufacturer, where it handles the product development process for its clients.

Market Context and Future Growth

India's beauty and personal care market is experiencing rapid expansion, with projections suggesting the industry could reach a size of $40 billion by 2030. As consumer-facing brands continue to scale, the reliance on specialized manufacturers like Naturis is increasing. While the company has reported strong historical revenue growth, exceeding 50% on a compound annual growth rate basis over the last four years, future performance will depend on its ability to successfully complete the new Vapi facility without significant cost overruns or delays. Additionally, as the company enters more competitive segments like color cosmetics and fragrances, maintaining consistent product quality and keeping pace with changing consumer preferences will remain central to its long-term success. Investors and stakeholders will monitor the timeline for the Vapi plant commissioning and the company's progress in expanding its export market presence.
