Milky Mist Lists at ₹165, Up 18% Over IPO Price

Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited shares debuted at ₹165 on the NSE and BSE, marking a 17.86% premium over the ₹140 issue price. The strong opening follows an IPO that was oversubscribed 56 times. Investors will now track how the company uses the ₹1,428 crore raised from the fresh issue to reduce its debt and improve margins in the competitive dairy sector.

Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited made a strong debut on the Indian stock exchanges today, with shares listing at ₹165 on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). This opening represents a 17.86% premium over the final IPO issue price of ₹140 per share.

The successful listing follows an enthusiastic response from investors during the IPO process, which concluded on August 13, 2026. The offering was subscribed over 56 times, indicating solid market interest in the company's portfolio of value-added dairy products. The company raised a total of ₹1,553 crore, consisting of a ₹1,428 crore fresh issue and a ₹125 crore offer for sale by existing shareholders.

For investors, the key area to watch is the company's financial structure. For the financial year 2026, the company reported a total revenue of ₹3,145.01 crore and a net profit of ₹127.01 crore. While the top line shows scale, the company has operated with high leverage, carrying a debt-to-equity ratio of 3.61x as of the latest reporting period. The management has communicated that a significant portion of the ₹1,428 crore raised from the fresh issue is intended to repay existing borrowings. Reducing this debt is a critical step for the company to lower interest expenses and improve its financial health.

Operating in the dairy and consumer goods sector involves specific challenges, including thin profit margins and intense competition. Milky Mist reported a net profit margin of approximately 4.05% for FY26. Investors may look to see if the company can maintain or improve this margin, given that the business is sensitive to volatility in raw milk prices and fluctuations in consumer demand. Furthermore, the company’s business model relies on a complex cold-chain logistics network and direct procurement from farmers. Any operational challenges in maintaining this supply chain could impact profitability.

The market will now turn its attention to the upcoming quarterly results to see how the company executes its growth strategy post-listing. The primary monitorable for shareholders will be the pace at which the company reduces its debt and whether it can sustain its growth in the value-added dairy segment while keeping operational costs under control.
