Marico Q2 Profit Up 31%, Targets ₹15,000 Crore Revenue in FY27

Marico reported a 31% jump in Q2 FY27 net profit to ₹550–₹558 crore, supported by a 10% rise in domestic volume. Revenue grew 13% to ₹3,897 crore, keeping the company on track for its ₹15,000 crore annual revenue target. Investors are now monitoring how the company balances its 44% increase in advertising spending with potential risks from fluctuating commodity prices.

Marico has reported strong financial results for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, driven by steady demand in its domestic portfolio and disciplined cost management. The FMCG company announced a 31% year-on-year increase in net profit, bringing the figure to between ₹550 crore and ₹558 crore. Consolidated revenue for the period rose by 13% to reach ₹3,897 crore.

Strong Volume Growth Drives Quarterly Performance

A key highlight of the quarter was the 10% growth in underlying domestic volume, suggesting consistent consumer demand for the company’s core brands. The firm’s operating margins also saw a positive shift, with EBITDA margins expanding by 200 basis points to 18.2%. This improvement provided the necessary financial cushion for the company to step up its brand visibility, leading to a 44% increase in advertising and promotional expenditure compared to the same period last year. This aggressive spending on marketing reflects an intent to defend market share and support new product launches in a competitive consumer goods environment.

Strategy for Long-Term Revenue Expansion

Management has reaffirmed its strategic goals for the current fiscal year, specifically targeting a revenue milestone of ₹15,000 crore in FY27. This forms a core component of the company’s broader "Vision 2030" roadmap, which aims to eventually scale consolidated revenue to ₹20,000 crore. To achieve this, the company is continuing its effort to diversify revenue streams by expanding its presence in food categories and premium personal care segments. These non-oil businesses are becoming increasingly central to the company’s product mix, as it seeks to reduce reliance on commodity-linked traditional segments.

In addition to these strategic shifts, the company announced the appointment of Rajan Bharti Mittal as the Lead Independent Director, a move that adds a senior leadership figure to the board to oversee governance and long-term strategic direction.

Monitoring Risks and Cost Pressures

While the recent performance was strong, the company faces inherent risks that investors should track. The profitability of the business remains sensitive to input cost volatility, particularly concerning commodities like edible oils and copra. Although the company managed costs effectively this quarter, any sustained rise in raw material prices could exert pressure on operating margins if pricing power is limited by market competition.

Furthermore, the company operates in a complex global environment where macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties can impact international revenue streams. The sustainability of current growth rates will depend heavily on the company's ability to maintain volume growth in the domestic market while managing these cost pressures effectively. Investors will likely look for updates on raw material price trends and volume growth consistency in the upcoming quarters to assess whether the company can maintain its margin trajectory amidst a changing economic environment.
