LG Electronics India reported a 27.2% rise in net profit to ₹652.86 crore for the first quarter of FY27, driven by a 15.5% revenue growth. The company is now expanding its Sri City manufacturing facility and targeting export markets to sustain momentum ahead of the upcoming festival season.
LG Electronics India has delivered a robust financial performance for the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, with the company reporting a 27.2% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹652.86 crore. Revenue from operations also saw a healthy rise of 15.5% to reach ₹7,233.35 crore. This performance comes as the company focuses on balancing premium product growth with operational efficiency, allowing its EBITDA margins to expand by 1.06 percentage points to reach 12.5% for the quarter.
Expanding Capacity And Export Reach
A central pillar of the company’s current strategy is a significant expansion of its manufacturing footprint. Work is progressing at its third facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, which is expected to support both domestic demand and export ambitions. By strengthening local production lines, particularly for air conditioners and compressors, the company aims to reduce its reliance on imports and improve its ability to serve the South Indian market, which accounts for a substantial portion of its total revenue. Beyond domestic needs, LG is leveraging its manufacturing scale to boost exports to the 'Global South,' including markets in Africa, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, where demand for its large-capacity refrigerators and 'Essential' series air conditioners has been rising.
Focus On Premium Products And Localization
Management has indicated that Indian consumers are showing a preference for higher-value, advanced technology products, a trend that helps the company maintain profitability even when faced with rising costs. Rather than opting for frequent price increases, which can dampen demand, the company is prioritizing operational efficiencies and better procurement strategies. Furthermore, LG is deepening its localization efforts, currently at 54-55%, with plans to increase this ratio annually. This strategy is designed to insulate the business from the volatility of global commodity prices and currency fluctuations, which can often pressure margins in the electronics sector.
Risks And Market Dynamics
While the company is optimistic about the upcoming festival season, it faces several industry-wide challenges. The consumer electronics market in India remains highly competitive, with frequent promotional activities from rivals keeping pricing power in check. Additionally, the company must navigate potential risks from fluctuating input costs and stricter energy-efficiency compliance norms, such as those set by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The success of its expansion plans will largely depend on the company's ability to maintain these margins while scaling its new kitchen appliance and commercial freezer portfolios, and ensuring that demand during the extended festival period meets internal expectations.
