Kansai Nerolac Revenue Hits 3-Year High; Sets ₹601 Cr Capex

Kansai Nerolac reported its strongest revenue growth in three years, rising 9.8% to ₹2,374 crore in the June quarter. While profit grew 5% to ₹232 crore, the company faces pressure on profitability from raw material costs. To support future demand, the firm has announced a ₹601 crore expansion plan for its manufacturing plants across India by FY29.

Kansai Nerolac has delivered its most significant revenue growth in 12 quarters, recording a 9.8% year-on-year rise to approximately ₹2,374 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. This performance was driven by steady demand in both the decorative paint segment and the industrial coatings business, particularly in the automotive sector. Despite the topline expansion, the company’s net profit grew at a slower pace of 5%, reaching ₹232 crore.

The company is dealing with profitability challenges as raw material costs—heavily influenced by crude oil prices—remain volatile. Even with implemented price hikes of 3% in decorative paints and 3-5% in industrial products, these efforts have not fully offset the impact of higher input costs. This has resulted in a slight compression of profit margins, which currently range between 13.9% and 14.6%. The company aims to keep these margins within the 13-14% range for the full fiscal year.

To ensure long-term growth, Kansai Nerolac has approved a significant capital spending program of ₹601 crore. This money will be used to expand production capacity at its facilities in Sayakha, Bawal, and Hosur. These projects are scheduled for completion by the 2028-29 financial year. This investment signals the company’s intent to capture a larger share of the market, even as it navigates a competitive landscape dominated by larger players like Asian Paints.

Investors should monitor how effectively the company can pass on rising input costs to customers in the coming quarters. While the demand trend remains healthy, the volatility in crude oil prices—a key raw material for paint manufacturing—and potential currency weakness remain the primary risks to financial performance. The company’s ability to execute its capacity expansion on time without significantly increasing its debt load will be a key area for shareholders to track.
