Godfrey Phillips Shares Rise 2.47% After Mixed June Quarterly Results

Godfrey Phillips India stock climbed 2.47% to ₹2,184.50 even as quarterly profit and revenue dipped. While the company reported strong annual growth through March 2026, investors are currently evaluating the impact of the June quarter slowdown and recent dividend declarations.

Godfrey Phillips India shares saw a gain of 2.47% in early trading on Friday, reaching ₹2,184.50. This movement comes as investors analyze a split picture between the company’s strong annual performance and a softening in recent quarterly figures.

Quarterly and Annual Performance Trends

The company's financials for the quarter ending June 2026 showed a decline compared to the previous quarter. Revenue fell to ₹1,205.51 crore from ₹1,787.27 crore, while net profit dropped to ₹170.12 crore from ₹416.51 crore. This brought the earnings per share down to ₹12.72 for the quarter.

Despite this recent pressure, the annual figures for the year ending March 2026 reflect a different trend. Total revenue grew to ₹6,391.11 crore from ₹5,611.01 crore in the previous year. Similarly, net profit rose to ₹1,242.90 crore from ₹943.92 crore. The company’s return on equity also showed improvement, moving to 24.56% from 20.44% in the year prior. However, the annual earnings per share fell to ₹97.84 from ₹206.81 in the previous year, which is a detail investors typically monitor alongside the growth in reserves and surplus.

Cash Flow and Corporate Actions

The balance sheet as of March 2026 showed total assets and liabilities rising to ₹8,310 crore. While the company generated ₹518 crore in cash from operating activities during the fiscal year, the net cash flow was negative at ₹72 crore.

In terms of shareholder returns, the company has been active. It declared a final dividend of ₹33.00 per share on May 15, 2026, which is set to become effective in August 2026. This follows an interim dividend of ₹17.00 per share announced in November 2025. Additionally, the company previously completed a 2:1 bonus share issue in August 2025.

Outlook for Investors

Moving forward, the primary factor for investors will be whether the company can stabilize its quarterly revenue and profit margins. As the company operates in the competitive consumer goods and tobacco space, its ability to maintain consistent earnings amidst varying quarterly demand will be a key monitorable. Shareholders will likely look toward management commentary in upcoming filings to understand the factors behind the June quarter slowdown and to gauge the outlook for the remainder of the financial year.
