Flipkart Group posted an 18% revenue rise to ₹1.46 lakh crore in FY26, as the firm narrowed operating losses by ₹1,600 crore through better unit economics and strong advertising growth. Despite operational improvements, the company recorded a consolidated net loss of ₹8,468 crore, impacted by finance costs and tax adjustments. This is the first consolidated report following the group's redomiciliation to India.
Operating Performance Improvement
Flipkart Group has reported its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2026, marking a significant period of operational refinement. The group recorded a revenue of ₹1.46 lakh crore, representing an 18% increase over the previous fiscal year. This growth was notably supported by a 31% surge in advertising revenue, indicating that the company is finding success in monetizing its vast marketplace traffic beyond simple product sales. Across its diverse business lines, including Myntra and Cleartrip, the group saw gross margins expand by 23%, reflecting a more disciplined approach to pricing and product mix.
Narrowing Losses and Unit Economics
The company’s focus on improving unit economics—the profitability of each individual transaction—appears to be yielding results. Adjusted operating margins improved by 230 basis points, settling at negative 5.4%. By exercising tighter control over overheads and better integrating supply chain logistics across its various entities, Flipkart managed to narrow its adjusted operating losses by ₹1,600 crore. This shift demonstrates a structural effort to move the core marketplace business toward a sustainable profitability model, even while scaling operations.
Challenges on the Bottom Line
Despite the clear operational gains, the group's consolidated net bottom line remains under pressure. The company reported a consolidated net loss of ₹8,468 crore for the year, a modest reduction from the restated loss of ₹8,646 crore in the previous fiscal year. Management noted that this net performance was weighed down by several non-operational factors, including higher finance costs and the derecognition of deferred tax assets. These adjustments, combined with one-off expenses, partially masked the progress made at the operating level.
Strategic Shifts and Future Focus
This fiscal year’s disclosure is the first to be filed under Flipkart Internet Private Limited as a consolidated entity, following the group's strategic redomiciliation to India. By consolidating its logistics, specialized services, and retail operations under this new structure, the firm aims to provide a more transparent view of its financial health to stakeholders. Looking ahead, investors and industry watchers will likely focus on whether the company can maintain its margin expansion trend while managing interest and tax costs. The ability to continue growing advertising income while scaling the core e-commerce platform will remain a key monitorable in the coming quarters.
