Ferrero India Targets Top 10 Global Rank via Premiumization

Ferrero India aims to make the country a top-10 global market for the group by focusing on premium chocolate bars beyond seasonal gifting. The company, which is not publicly listed on Indian stock exchanges, recently reported strong double-digit revenue growth and is expanding its manufacturing and distribution footprint.

Ferrero India is realigning its strategy to capture a larger share of the domestic market, aiming to become one of the top 10 global regions for the Italian confectionery giant. The company is shifting its focus from being a seasonal gifting brand to an everyday consumption player by introducing premium chocolate bars to the Indian market.

Strategic Manufacturing and Exports

At the heart of this expansion is the company’s manufacturing facility in Baramati, Maharashtra. This plant functions as a significant supply chain node, not just for domestic demand but also for the global market. Approximately 45 percent of the output from the Baramati facility is exported to over 30 countries across Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. This dual role helps the company manage production costs while serving diverse markets.

Moving Beyond Gifting

Historically, Ferrero has been strongly associated with festive and gift-giving occasions in India. To sustain growth, the company is now aggressively pushing into the premium chocolate bar segment. This move is designed to make its products relevant for everyday consumption rather than just seasonal demand. By tapping into the rise of modern retail and quick-commerce platforms, the brand is attempting to reach consumers in tier-two and tier-three cities, where aspirations for premium products are growing rapidly.

Financially, the company has seen positive momentum. Reports indicate the firm achieved revenue of approximately Rs 2,650 crore for the financial year ending March 31, 2025, supported by double-digit growth of around 19 percent. This steady financial performance is providing the capital needed to support its ongoing distribution expansion and product diversification.

Important Note for Investors

It is important for market followers to note that Ferrero India is a private limited company. It is not listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) or the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Therefore, there is no public stock for investors to trade, and the company is not required to publish quarterly earnings in the same way as listed FMCG peers.

Competitive Challenges

The Indian confectionery market remains highly competitive, with established multinational and domestic giants like Nestlé already holding significant market share. Ferrero’s ability to scale will depend on its success in navigating these competitive pressures. Additionally, the company faces typical industry risks, including volatile raw material costs—specifically for ingredients like cocoa—and the complexities of managing a widespread supply chain across a large and diverse market like India. The key monitorable for the business will be its ability to maintain profit margins while investing heavily in expanding its distribution network to smaller cities.
