Eternal Ltd Profit Hits ₹92 Crore; Quick Commerce Drives Growth

Eternal Ltd reported a consolidated net profit of ₹92 crore for the June 2026 quarter, a 3.7-fold jump from ₹25 crore last year. The surge was led by an 86% rise in Blinkit’s net order value as the company added 200 new dark stores. Investors are tracking how this expansion affects operational costs and competition.

Detailed Coverage

Eternal Ltd delivered a strong performance in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, reporting a consolidated net profit of ₹92 crore. This is a significant increase from the ₹25 crore reported in the same period last year. The company’s consolidated revenue from operations climbed to ₹20,211 crore, compared to ₹7,167 crore in the previous year.

Quick Commerce Expansion

The quick commerce business, Blinkit, continues to be the primary engine for the company's growth. The net order value for this segment jumped 86% year-on-year to reach ₹17,132 crore. To support this demand, Eternal added 200 new dark stores during the quarter, bringing its total network to 2,443 stores. The company now manages approximately 19 million square feet of warehouse and store space across more than 300 cities. This infrastructure represents a substantial financial commitment, with about ₹3,000 crore invested in the network over the past four years.

Management Strategy and Market Competition

Group CEO Albinder Singh Dhindsa stated that the company remains focused on expanding its product assortment and density in key cities, including the launch of specialized 'gourmet' stores. Regarding market competition, founder Deepinder Goyal noted that while new players like Toing and Ownly have entered the space, their impact remains limited. The company leadership argued that competitors often rely on aggressive pricing and lower fees, which may not be sustainable in the long run. Eternal plans to continue investing in its own platforms, such as 'Bistro', to maintain its market position.

Financial Context and Risks

While revenue and order volumes show growth, the company acknowledged that it is facing inflationary pressure on input costs. However, management noted that these costs have not yet disrupted supply or production volumes. Because the quick commerce model requires significant physical infrastructure, maintaining profitability while scaling remains a complex task. Investors may monitor how the company balances its massive capital investment in real estate and logistics with the need to maintain profit margins. The effectiveness of the new dark stores and the company's ability to manage costs despite inflationary headwinds will be important factors to watch in the coming quarters.
