Cera Sanitaryware Target Set at Rs 7,384 by Motilal Oswal

Motilal Oswal has kept a 'Buy' rating on Cera Sanitaryware with a price target of Rs 7,384. The company reported a 19.5% revenue jump in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, though profit margins dipped to 10.1% due to one-time costs and accounting changes. Investors are now tracking whether the company can meet its full-year margin target of 13.5–14%.

Motilal Oswal has maintained its 'Buy' recommendation for Cera Sanitaryware, setting a target price of Rs 7,384. This decision follows the company's financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, which highlighted a sharp contrast between strong sales growth and temporary pressure on profit margins.

Revenue Growth Meets Margin Pressures

During the April-June quarter, Cera Sanitaryware saw its revenue rise by approximately 19.5% year-on-year to Rs 486 crore. This growth was largely driven by a healthy increase in the volume of goods sold in both its sanitaryware and faucetware segments.

However, the company’s profit margins, which measure how much money remains after paying operating costs, slipped to 10.1% from 13.1% in the same quarter last year. This dip in profitability was caused by a combination of factors, including a one-time payment for a labor settlement, temporary production disruptions, and a change in how the company records dealer discounts. Previously, these discounts were listed as expenses, but they are now reclassified directly against revenue, which affects the comparison with previous quarters.

Management Targets and Operational Health

Despite the margin dip in the first quarter, the company’s management has maintained its profit margin guidance of 13.5–14% for the entire fiscal year 2027. This suggests that the company expects the factors causing the current margin pressure to fade as the year progresses.

Another positive indicator is the improvement in the company's working capital cycle. The time taken to convert operations into cash has shortened to 50 days, down from 75 days in the previous year. A shorter working capital cycle often signals better efficiency in managing inventory and collecting payments from customers, which is a useful sign for investors monitoring the company's financial health.

Risks and Monitoring Areas

For investors, the primary concern remains whether the company can protect its profit margins in a competitive market. The business is sensitive to the cost of raw materials like brass and gas. If these costs stay high and the company cannot offset them through price increases, profit margins could remain under pressure.

Furthermore, as a player in the home building materials sector, Cera Sanitaryware is closely tied to the performance of the real estate industry. Any slowdown in new housing projects or renovation demand could impact the company's ability to maintain its sales growth. The key update for investors to watch in the coming quarters will be the company’s ability to stabilize these margins and meet its annual guidance as planned.
