Bikaji Foods Q1 Revenue Jumps 12.5% as Costs Hit Margins

Bikaji Foods reported a 12.5% revenue rise to ₹734.3 crore for the first quarter of FY27, driven by strong snack sales. However, profit growth remained limited due to higher input costs, which squeezed operating margins to 13.5%. The company also announced new international investments to diversify its supply chain.

Bikaji Foods International posted its financial results for the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year on August 5, 2026, showing a clear divide between sales growth and bottom-line performance. The company reported a revenue from operations of ₹734.3 crore, a 12.5% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth highlights the continued demand for the company’s ethnic and western snack products across its distribution network.

However, this revenue growth did not translate into a similar jump in profits. The company's profitability faced pressure, with the operating margin—a measure of how much profit is made from core operations—dropping to 13.5% from 14.8% in the previous year. This performance indicates that while the company is selling more, the rising costs of raw materials, such as edible oils and packaging, are taking a larger share of the earnings.

International Expansion Plans

Despite the immediate cost challenges at home, the company’s board has approved plans to grow its footprint outside India. The company announced a ₹15 crore investment in its Nepal-based joint venture, C.G. Bikaji Private Limited. Additionally, the firm is setting up a new wholly-owned subsidiary in Abu Dhabi. This move aims to optimize the company's international supply chain, potentially allowing for better management of procurement and logistics as it seeks to expand in new markets.

Leadership and Operational Context

Investors are currently monitoring how the company handles a period of leadership transition following the passing of its Founder Chairman. In the FMCG sector, such changes are often closely observed for their impact on long-term strategy and management stability. Furthermore, the company continues to operate in a highly competitive market for ethnic snacks, where brand loyalty and distribution strength are critical to maintaining market share. Maintaining these advantages requires consistent spending on marketing and distribution, which also affects the company’s overall profit figures.

What Investors Should Monitor

The key challenge for Bikaji Foods remains managing raw material price volatility, which can quickly change the company’s profitability. Looking ahead, investors may track the upcoming earnings conference call scheduled for August 6, 2026, where management is expected to provide more details on how they plan to balance volume growth with margin protection. Additionally, the timeline for the new international projects and their impact on operational costs will be important factors to watch in the coming quarters.
