Beauty Garage Files For ₹125 Crore IPO To Expand Manufacturing

Premium haircare brand Beauty Garage Ltd has filed draft papers with SEBI for an IPO, featuring a fresh issue of ₹125 crore. The company plans to use the funds to build a new manufacturing plant in Vasai and cover general corporate expenses. The brand currently distributes its salon-grade products across 272 cities in India.

Beauty Garage Ltd has initiated the process to go public by filing its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India. This move marks a significant step for the company, which focuses on the premium, salon-grade haircare market in India. The proposed IPO consists of a fresh issuance of shares worth up to ₹125 crore and an offer for sale where promoters Jigar Babubhai Ravaria and Mahesh Babubhai Ravaria will sell up to 78.36 lakh equity shares.

The primary driver for this fundraising is the company’s plan to expand its production capacity. A substantial part of the money raised through the fresh issue will be used to construct a new manufacturing unit in Vasai, Maharashtra. Currently, the company manages its operations through an integrated model that covers research and development, manufacturing, packaging, and marketing. By setting up this new facility, the company aims to scale its manufacturing capabilities to support its growing distribution network.

Business Model and Distribution

The company operates in a niche segment of the beauty industry, focusing on professional-grade hair treatments and maintenance products. Its distribution network is a key part of its business, spanning 272 cities and reaching over 13,000 salons across the country. The company maintains a portfolio of 133 distinct products, ranging from shampoos and conditioners to specialized scalp care solutions. With an average selling price per stock keeping unit (SKU) of approximately ₹2,950, the company positions itself within the premium end of the Indian consumer market.

Investor Context and Monitoring

For investors, the key area to track will be the execution of the new manufacturing project in Vasai. The company’s ability to successfully scale its operations and maintain its profit margins while expanding its infrastructure will be vital. Additionally, as the company operates in a competitive segment of the beauty and personal care market, it faces the constant pressure of keeping its brand relevant through continuous innovation and salon partnerships.

Investors should also monitor the upcoming regulatory updates from SEBI regarding the approval of the draft papers. Further details regarding the company’s financial health, such as revenue growth, debt levels, and profitability, will be disclosed once the final prospectus is made available. The timeline for the IPO, including the official dates and the final price band, will be determined following the regulator’s review process.
