Caspian Sea Assault

Ukraine launched a significant overnight assault targeting three Lukoil-owned drilling platforms in the Caspian Sea. The strikes hit the V. Filanovsky, Yuri Korchagin, and Valery Grayfe facilities, aiming to cripple Russia's economic capacity to finance its ongoing war. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the direct hits, though the full extent of the damage is still being assessed. These platforms have been targeted previously by Ukrainian forces in December.

Broader Strategy

This latest operation aligns with Ukraine's expanding strategy to attack Russia's vital energy assets. Kyiv has been escalating its efforts to disrupt revenue from sources including refineries, sea terminals, and the so-called shadow fleet tankers. Coordinated Strikes

In separate but coordinated actions, Ukrainian forces also struck a Buk-M3 medium-range air defense missile launcher in Russian-controlled Luhansk. Additionally, a warehouse supporting material and technical units in Kherson was targeted, aimed at degrading Russian logistics and combat effectiveness. These multi-pronged attacks demonstrate Ukraine's intent to disrupt Russian military capabilities on multiple fronts, impacting both direct combat assets and their logistical support systems.
