India has launched a national digital traceability framework for fisheries and aquaculture to achieve its goal of Rs 1 lakh crore seafood exports by 2030. This system aims to enhance food safety and ensure compliance with international regulations, crucial for improving market access, especially after the US imposed high tariffs on Indian shrimp. By enabling 'farm to plate' tracking using technologies like blockchain and IoT, India seeks to access alternative markets like Russia, China, and European countries and boost its significant blue economy.
