Overview

The Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) has submitted budget proposals urging the government to withdraw the 15% export duty on low-grade bauxite, aiming to revive exports. They also requested doubling the import duty on finished aluminium products to 15% and restricting imports from countries with surplus capacities like China and Russia. Additionally, FIMI sought concessional rail freight rates for key raw materials to reduce logistics costs for the domestic industry.
