India is proposing a dedicated chapter on critical minerals in its Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations with Peru. Peruvian Ambassador Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde confirmed they are studying the proposal, highlighting Peru's abundance of these vital resources and willingness to cooperate. The ambassador sees a significant opportunity for India to acquire mining assets or secure access to key minerals in Peru, as the country seeks to diversify its partnerships beyond China. Negotiations are accelerating, with an aim to finalize the pact by July next year.
