Hindustan Zinc Shares Rise 2% Following Strong Q1 Results

Hindustan Zinc shares traded 2.01% higher at Rs 558 on Tuesday after the company posted a significant jump in its June 2026 quarterly profit. The company reported a net profit of Rs 5,469 crore for the quarter, compared to Rs 2,234 crore in the same period last year, reflecting robust operational performance.

Hindustan Zinc Limited shares opened higher on Tuesday, trading at Rs 558.00, which is a 2.01% gain. This movement follows the company's recent financial results for the quarter ending June 2026, which showed substantial growth in both revenue and profitability compared to the previous year.

Financial Performance and Growth

For the June 2026 quarter, the company reported a consolidated revenue of Rs 13,747.00 crore, a notable increase from Rs 7,771.00 crore reported during the same quarter last year. The net profit also grew significantly, reaching Rs 5,469.00 crore, more than double the Rs 2,234.00 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025. This performance is also reflected in the earnings per share, which rose to Rs 12.94 from Rs 5.29 a year earlier.

Looking at the longer-term trend, the company’s consolidated annual revenue has grown from Rs 29,440.00 crore in 2022 to Rs 40,844.00 crore by 2026. Similarly, net profit has increased from Rs 9,629.00 crore to a projected Rs 13,832.00 crore over the same four-year period. As a major producer of zinc and lead, the company's financial health is often tied to global metal prices and demand from the infrastructure and construction sectors in India.

Shareholder Returns and Index Position

Beyond operational results, the company maintains a history of regular dividend payments. It declared an interim dividend of Rs 11.00 per share in April 2026, following a Rs 10.00 per share dividend in June 2025. Hindustan Zinc is a part of the NIFTY NEXT 50 index, which often influences institutional interest in the stock.

While the company has shown consistent financial growth, investors should keep in mind that metal producers operate in a cyclical industry. This means that future profitability can be influenced by fluctuations in international zinc prices and the costs of raw materials. Investors may track upcoming management commentary regarding production guidance and cost control measures to understand how the company plans to sustain these margins in the coming quarters.
